Cox Communications Provides Internet Connectivity for Co-Location Program

Scott Data Center selected Cox Communications to fulfill internet bandwidth requirements for its growing co-location program. Cox was selected based off its proposal to provide high capacity, completely redundant and physically diverse routes to the Scott Data Center thereby eliminating single points of failure throughout the Cox network.

“When we searched for a vendor, we wanted to make sure we selected a group that could match our own internal standards of reliability in the datacenter. Cox Communications rose to the top quickly in that regard.” said Operations Director Scott Pollard.

Cox Communications interfaces its fiber network directly with Scott Data Center’s own redundant IP network powered by two CISCO 6506 core routers that internally distribute bandwidth via diverse paths for redundancy. Utilizing the network, 1 gigabit internet connections are available for co-location customers. Cox Communications specifically sized their network infrastructure within the data center to handle these high-capacity connections.

“We are excited about this service offering. It clearly demonstrates are continued momentum in the co-location program. Bandwidth availability of this magnitude is perfect for companies wishing to do web hosting or disaster recovery.” said Executive Director, Ken Moreano.
